Think about 100 yogis joining together for practice in the middle of Manhattan? Pretty weird at first thought but totally awesome when you think about it. All summer long Bryant Park is hosting yoga sessions every Tuesday and Thursday and guess what? This summer perk is absolutely free!
This AM we headed to the park for a morning yoga session instructed by Alison McCue, who also instructs for Powerflow Yoga, for an hour long session in the haze and heat of New York City. The staff provided yogis with mats (we brought our own) and refreshments were provided at the end. Two instructors walked around to fix poses while Alison was on a platform posing for those who got lost in practice.
You can always go to a regular yoga studio and listen to the zen music through the speakers but this yoga class was something special. To be in the middle of this crazy city practicing yoga while some many things are going on around you is intense, but you learn to mute the noise and focus on holding poses. We have to say this was a great work out and really cleared ours mind for the day ahead!
The yoga classes are held on Tuesdays at 10:00-11:00 AM and Thursdays at 6:00-7:00 PM. Each class has a different instructor, which makes it very fun! We will definitely be making Bryant Park yoga apart of our weekly ritual, come join us next time!
