As a fashion brand in the city, we love finding opportunities to immerse ourselves in as much fashion as possible. Open through February 23, 2014, the Brooklyn Museum hosts The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk, an international exhibit showcasing some of Gaultier’s most iconic works. We were blown away by the extravagance of the exhibit (though we expected nothing less from one the fashion world’s most iconic designers.) The exhibit is structured around seven themes of influence in Gaultier’s evolution as a designer. From the streets of Paris to the world of cinema, many of Gaultiers most intricately designed pieces are all on display in uniquely designed rooms that capture all of your attention. The music, face projections on the mannequins, and personal videos from Gaultier himself showed us just how wild and unique his design style is. The exhibit even showcases his legendary boudoir pieces designed for Madonna’s tours, pieces that essentially put her on the map as an international sensation.
The Brooklyn Museum also showcased other amazing works of ancient and contemporary art, and is just blocks away from the beautiful Brooklyn Botanic Gardens (another favorite place of ours). The exhibit gave us a glimpse into the amazing world of Gaultier’s fashion, but we’re ready to get back to ours as we get closer to the launch of our Fall 2014 collection. We’ve got some new pieces underway and we’re so excited to show our readers the entire collection!
Yours in style,
