Another New York Fashion Week is down in the books. The Spring/Summer 2019 collections definitely did not disappoint this fashion week. There were so many runway shows and presentations that it is easy to miss the best ones. But don’t worry, we recapped our favorite shows and most stand out moments from fashion week.
Wes Gordons First Collection with Carolina Herrera S/S19
This was Wes Gordon’s first collection as Creative Director for Carolina Herrera and it truly was a stand out collection. With a wonderful mix of prints, bold colors, and patterns all while at the same time staying true to the sophisticated and feminine feel of the brand. This collection was definitely giving Carolina Herrera a new fresh look.
Cushnie S/S19 – No longer Cushnie Et Ochs
This was the first collection after the founding partner Michelle Ochs left the company, and the label rebranded in August as Cushnie. Carly Cushnie took over bringing her native Jamaican roots as inspiration for the collection. With a diverse cast of models, color choices, and textures we were obsessed with the collection.
Ralph Lauren 50th Anniversary Runway Show
This year marks Ralph Lauren’s 50th Anniversary and he celebrated with a star-studded runway show that took place in Central Park. All the top celebrities were there to pay homage to the legendary designer. This collection, unlike others had more of a casual and laid back feel. Mixing sportswear pieces with more elegant formal pieces like a parka with a tux, or sweaters with sequin skirts. He showcased men, teen and even children clothing at the runway show as well.
Rodarte’s Return to NYFW at a Cemetery in the Rain
A little rain didn’t stop the highly anticipated Rodarte’s S/S19 Runway Show. The gloomy weather and cemetery setting was the perfect contrast to the feminine floral headpiece’s and tulle gowns. This collection was definitely the least ready-to-wear but the most editorial. This show looked like it came out of a scene in a fairytale, and we were really digging it.
