In recent years the nude lip has become more than a trend, but a staple in every girl’s collection of makeup tricks. It seems easy enough; find a lip color labeled “nude” and you’re good to go. Unfortunately we all don’t have the same skin tone, and the nude lipstick your slightly tanner girlfriend picks out won’t have give you the same muted lip effect you think it would. The Lauren Cecchi New York team recently experienced this with a free nude lip color we were given at an event. It looked bad…on all of us. It wasn’t our shade and made us look like the walking dead instead of a Kardashian. It’s safe to say we were slightly disappointed. Much like a red, there are so many different shades and there is sure to be one for your skin tone.
If you’re dying to try a nude lip this spring have no fear! Here are some color suggestions.
Porcelain: For paler skin, we suggest a light pink shade. The pink adds some color to prevent skin from looking even lighter.
Try NARS lipstick in Cruising-$26
Tan: For lighter complexions with a more of a tan we love a peachy nude. It accentuates the gold undertones in the skin and gives a little bit color.
Try Too Faced La Crème in Nude Beach-$22
Almond: For lighter brown skin tones we love a rosy beige. The slight pinkish tint helps to not wash out the face.
Try MAC lipstick in Honeylove-$16
Ebony: For deeper dark skin we recommend a true beige. Slightly lighter than a standard nude, these colors help brighten face and lighten the lip.
Try MAC lipstick in Freckletone-$16
We hope you try this make up trend this fall and please share in the comments section below your favorite nude lip finds!
Yours in style,
Lauren Cecchi New York Team
